What is the IB-DP?

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students aged 16 to 19. It is respected by leading universities across the globe.

The DP curriculum

The Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum is made up of six subject groups and the DP core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay.

Through the Diploma Programme (DP) core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service.

Oxstand Preparatory Program for IBDP

Oxstnd international School has been officially approved as a candidate School for IB World School in March 2018. In order to help students better adapt to the concept of the course and learning methods , oxstand has opened the preparatory program. The two-year Pre-DP Program is a special academic program designed and delivered to prepare students for entrance to the IB Diploma Program.

Q: How is the Diploma Programme different from other pre-university academic programmes?

A: The Diploma Programme is a comprehensive and balanced two-year curriculum and assessment system that requires students to study six subjects and core components across all disciplines. Within this structured framework, the DP provides a great deal of flexibility, accommodating student interests and abilities. Through careful subject selection, students may tailor their course of studies to meet their needs.

Q： Which universities recognize the IB diploma?

A：The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities. DP students apply to more than 3,300 higher education institutions each year, in close to 90 countries.The most popular of these institutions are ranked among the top universities in the world.

Q: What impact will a student’s choice to pursue the DP have on university admissions and aacademic performance?

A: Evidence does show that DP students tend to go on to tertiary study at higher rates than their peers, are admitted more often to selective institutions, and tend to perform better in their post-secondary studies, including higher rates of post-secondary completion.

Some of the key findings included:

♕ IB diploma students were significantly more likely than other programs peers to attend a top 20 Higher Education Institutions.

♛ IB diploma students had a significantly greater likelihood of earning a first-class honours degree than did other programs students.

♛ IB diploma students were significantly more likely to be engaged in further study after university graduation.

Q: What is a passing DP course score?

A: The IB does not assign passing scores for individual courses. A student simply receives a course score between one and seven. The grade descriptions for each course give an indication of the level of achievement a student reached for any given score. However, many universities often use a score of “four” or “five” as the minimum for granting admission. For the full Diploma Programme, which is different than an individual DP course score, the minimum passing score is 24 points, assuming all other passing conditions have been met.

Q: DP课程分数的合格分数是多少?

A: IB课程不给单独科目规定及格分数，每门科目会在1-7分之间进行打分，所得分数即为学生在这一学科上的成绩。但很多大学在录取时会对个别科目规定低录取标准，一般情况下，大学录取要求的低成绩为4或5分。而完整的IB-DP课程文凭是有及格分数的，在满足其它要求的条件下，课程总成绩低达到24分，才会授予IB文凭证书。
